The classrooms in our Montessori school uses tiny music boxes to quietly signal a new transition in the classroom...no flashing lights, no screaming teacher, no school bell - just a tiny little hand held music box to gently prompt a change in the routine. 

We now have one at home, and you would be amazed how nicely the children respond to it other than my voice!
