My family has a bunch of holiday movies we love to watch in November and December - The Christmas Story, Frosty The Snowman, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Charlie Brown's Christmas, The Sound of Music and more.  If you want to own them on DVD, this is the best time to buy them.  You can usually find them very inexpensively online.  For example, Amazon has many Holiday Films for over 50% off right now.
