
My family were never ones to waste bread or any food for that matter, my nan used to say waste not want not.
So when we had bread that had become to hard to eat as sandwiches we would make bread and butter pudding.
4 slices of bread and some butter and jam or fruit layered into a dish then you pour over the egg and milk mixture and put into a slow oven.
The dish you use must be able to sit into another dish that is filled with water so as the egg mixture boils not bakes.
we used to even eat this for breakfast.
Now I see this on the menu in restaurants and see the price and shake my head.
