After my daughter saw the movie "Happy Feet," she was tap dancing all over the house. We moved to Chula Vista six months ago and I thought it would be good to enroll her in a class to keep her interested. Coming from a military base overseas and having one source for recreation, I was a bit overwhelmed with the number of choices here. She's four and I was trying to decide whether to enroll her in a local dance school that everyone raves over, or the area community center that also offers tap/ballet classes. Of course, the formal dance school is much more expensive, so my husband and I decided to let her start at Salt Creek Recreation Center, then if she likes it we can go to the dance school. The class meets once a week and costs only $40 for 10 weeks. You can't beat that, and for her age it's suitable. The teacher, Miss Becky, is great. She makes the class fun and gets all the kids involved. I'm thinking of taking one more class there, then making the step and financial commitment to a formal school.
